Andy Khoo, Chairman SNIA Malaysia & Country Manager, NetApp
Andy was born in 1962 and grew up in Penang, Malaysia. There he attended St Xavier’s Primary and then Penang Free School. After that, he left for USA in 1980 where he studied Economics and Business in Knox College, Illinois. He also has an MBA in International Business from the U.K. Later in 2004, he attended the Senior Management Development Program (SMDP) conducted by Harvard Business School faculty and sponsored by the Harvard Business School Alumni of Malaysia. Andy has been in the I.T. industry for almost 30 years. He began his career in I.T. hardware and was involved in business development for the original IBM PC, PC XT and PC AT. After 4 years of handling IBM hardware, Andy moved into I.T. services and software development. He joined Andersen Consulting (called Accenture today) and worked primarily in the Banking and Oil & Gas industries. 5 years later, Andy moved from I.T. services to software marketing. He joined Microsoft Corporation in 1993 where he spent the next 10 years running regional sales, marketing and later product development. During his tenure with Microsoft, Andy worked in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and the USA. His last role at Microsoft was as APAC Regional Director for Product Development in cutting edge technology areas such as cellular applications and interactive TV. Subsequently, Andy left full-time employment in mid-2003 to spend more time with his family. During that time, he made personal investments in small startups, both in IT and outside IT. He is the director of several local companies and advises on business and technology strategies. In February 2009, Andy decided to join a U.S. vendor to focus on marketing Backup & Archiving Systems. He grew revenues 350% in his first year there. Then in November 2010, Andy moved on to become the Country Manager of NetApp for Malaysia and Brunei. In this new role, Andy heads sales and marketing operations to ensure great customer service, build stronger channels and grow business opportunities for NetApp. In the past 2 years under his leadership, NetApp has achieved over 250% incremental growth in business revenues. The company provides leading edge storage technology to top global cloud service providers (for email, music downloads and social networking).
Andy is also very active in social and community service organizations. He was a 2-year Past President of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja, the oldest, largest and most prestigious Rotary Club in Malaysia. He was also a Trustee on the Board of Habitat for Humanity Malaysia, which is a charity dedicated to assisting the poor to secure their own homes. He has been on the committee of Farah & Friends, a volunteer creative arts group that raises funds for deserving charities through dance & entertainment events.

Freddy Chin Yeow Lee Advanced Technical Skill Manager - IBM ASEAN Freddy graduated from Curtin University of Technology, Australia with degrees in Computer Technology and Computer Science. He has been with IBM for 18 years. In his tenure with IBM, he has supported large enterprises and is responsible for designing high-end, complex infrastructure for customers which includes servers and storage networking. He has also conducted seminars, workshops and technical presentations across the ASEAN region and is an IBM Dynamic Infrastructure Ambassador. Freddy is currently the region’s Advanced Technical Skill Manager. He leads a “SWAT” team of highly-skilled specialists supporting 6 countries. He is recognized as a technical leader himself and sits on the IBM Certification Review Board. Freddy has also written several technical papers which are used within the IBM community. Freddy obtained his Open Group Master IT Specialist Certification in 2006 in the storage discipline and was recently re-certified in the same discipline.

Chong Kuok Ching, Senior Account Systems Engineer, EMC
Chong Kuok Ching (KC) is a Senior Account Systems Engineer for EMC Malaysia, where he focuses on driving EMC’s growth and leadership for the Financial Services Industry (FSI) sector in Malaysia. He has solid domain expertise in the storage industry and has a strong track record in building, integrating and developing solutions for his clients. Prior to joining EMC, KC was a Solution Architect in the Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN) division in Hewlett Packard (HP) working with HP’s top Global Accounts residing in Malaysia. Prior to HP, KC has spent 6 years with IBM, where he held various diverse technical roles for IBM’s storage division. KC holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering from Multimedia University, Malaysia.

Alvin Ong, Treasurer SNIA Malaysia & Professional Services Engineer, Quantum
Alvin is currently the StorNext Professional Services engineer for Quantum Corporation in the Asia Pacific region, providing support to Solution Architects in designing workable solutions for customers. Alvin travels extensively within Asia Pacific to customer locations to perform installations, migrations and upgrades. Previous to this role Alvin was the Advanced Solutions Product Support engineer for DXi (disk backup and NAS), StorNext File System & StorNext Storage manager. Prior to joining Quantum, Alvin held team leader roles for technical support team at Atos Origin and Dell managing teams of technical support personnel.
